My precious grandson August Rain, was born June 27, 2019. During his first bath in the delivery room, the nurse noticed a mass on his lower back and shortly after he was transferred to CHOC where was diagnosed with lipomyelomeningocele, a form of Spina Bifida. He spent his first days in the CHOC NICU where the doctors and nurses were absolutely amazing to him and our family. He returned to CHOC on September 19th at 3 months old, for surgery where they removed the mass and de-tethered his spinal cord. He has continue to be seen and treated in the CHOC Spina Bifida clinic throughout his baby/childhood. He is now 5 and we thank God for the loving care that CHOC continues to provide to him and so many other children and their families. We are so blessed that my grandson August is in the best hands there. I thank God because i know and believe that God will be glorified continuously throughout this journey! This is why I am so excited to be participating in the 2025 CHOC Walk in the Park at the Disneyland Resort on August 3rd to raise funds for CHOC Children's Hospital! The fundraising efforts of the CHOC Walk make an immediate impact on families going through the most challenging time in their lives.
