Partnering with the Morhaimes to Help Sick Kids at CHOC
Helping children’s hospitals has been deeply personal to me my whole life. It hits home in ways I don’t often talk about.
My mother spent much of her childhood in hospitals due to conditions that stayed with her for life, yet she is where she is today because of the incredible care and love she received. One of my cousins, who has always been like an older sister to me, beat cancer of the eye at Boston Children's because of the support and dedication of the medical teams there. Over the years, I’ve quietly donated to Connecticut Children’s and other hospitals wherever I lived, simply because I know how much that care can mean.
As you know, our community is - and always will be - zero profit. But I always wanted one time a year where I could ask, with no pressure, if you’d join me in doing something purely good. CHOC (Children’s Hospital of Orange County) has been that cause. Now, I want to go bigger.
I’m grateful to my friends Mike and Amy Morhaime and Mike Knox, who have worked with CHOC for years and have trusted me to partner with them in this mission. Moving forward:
1. Any gifts or nice things sent my way - whether from vendors or members of the community - will have their offsets donated to CHOC.
2. Instead of declining honorariums, speaking fees (which I have traditionally done), or internal employee referral fees, any money I receive for appearing anywhere on behalf of our community will go directly to CHOC. I am seeding this year's team effort with $1,000 to point, the net proceeds from an employee referral I recently made. I know of several other opportunities to donate that will come up this year.
3. I will be captaining Amir Satvat’s Games Community team for CHOC’s annual fundraising drive. I would love for any of you in the community to join me and donate whatever you can to help sick kids.
Even if CHOC isn’t in your backyard, its impact reaches far beyond Southern California. Kids from across the country come to CHOC for world-class pediatric care, and its breakthroughs in treatment and research help children everywhere. CHOC does more than heal - it lifts entire families, ensuring no parent has to navigate their child’s illness alone. From cutting-edge medical advancements to essential mental health support and family services, CHOC stands by every child, regardless of their diagnosis or background, giving them the best possible chance at a healthy future.
I thank Mike, Amy, and Mike for trusting me with this, and I promise I’ll give everything I have to help, because this is about the kids.
I appreciate your support and would love to have you join the Amir Satvat's Games Community team!
Since I don’t live in Los Angeles, where will I walk for the CHOC Walk? I’ll double the CHOC Walk distance (about 3 miles) by walking 7 miles from my house in Farmington, CT to my parents' house in Avon, CT - and I’ll take video along the way to share with the community!
If you want to invite anybody to join our team or to donate to the cause, please share this link with them.
