As a mama, Mateo’s story has a special place in my heart. My friend Kristine’s sweet boy was born with multiple congenital anomalies, including kidney, lung, and liver disease. His first year of life has been filled with unimaginable challenges—from the NICU to the PICU, where he spent six months and even celebrated his first birthday surrounded by the incredible care team fighting alongside him.

Through every uncertain moment, Mateo has shown incredible strength. The team at Rady Children’s has been there every step of the way, providing hope, compassion, and life-changing care for Mateo and his family.
