Thank you to everyone who has donated or is considering donating. CHOC has been a huge part of our lives since day two. Waylon spent a couple of days in the NICU at CHOC Mission Viejo for fairly routine needs after being born a few weeks early. We had no idea that, just a few years later, we would become regular visitors at the Orange campus and clinic. When Waylon was three, the day after Memorial Day, we took him to a nearby urgent care. After Mom and Dad pushed for bloodwork, we were told to go straight to the emergency room. When we asked about the closest ER, they told us where to go; when we asked whether CHOC would be better, the doctor strongly agreed.
When we arrived at the ER and they tested him we learned Waylon was in diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), and our lives changed forever. He was officially diagnosed as a Type 1 Diabetic.
From the beginning, CHOC comforted us and prepared us for this new life. The lifestyle nurses, nutritionists, technology specialists, toys, blankets, sugar-free popsicles, and so much more helped us feel fully supported and cared for.
We now visit the brand-new clinic—which opened the week after our first ER visit—every three months to check in, see how things are going, learn, get encouragement, review new numbers, and receive helpful suggestions. Best of all, Waylon enjoys going and feels comfortable with the entire process. CHOC truly does things the right way, and this is just one of many clinics caring for children across the county and nearby communities.
Thank you for your consideration,
CJ, Amy, and Waylon
I'm so excited to be participating in the 2026 CHOC Walk in the Park presented by Disneyland® Resort on Sunday, August 2, to raise funds for Rady Children’s Health, formerly CHOC!
I can't wait to reunite with our Walk community for an early morning stroll through Disneyland® park and Disney California Adventure® park. You won't want to miss this one-of-a-kind experience filled with special entertainment and surprises before the parks open to the public.
Every dollar raised from this magical event will support health care programs, education, and research at Rady Children’s Health, formerly CHOC. More than two million children a year depend on Rady's. And our community's generosity is what provides access to the best possible care and services.
You can help me exceed my fundraising goal for the benefit of the children's health and well-being by:
-Donating now by clicking the "Donate" button above or
-Joining me at this year's event at the Disneyland® Resort by registering here
Many thanks in advance for helping us write a new future for so many children and their families.
With Gratitude,
Waylon
