Ryan was born at 27 weeks, weighing only 2.1 pounds and 13 inches long. Being premature, Ryan was transferred to CHOC Children’s Hospital where he stayed for 120 days, both in the Small Baby Unit and the NICU. Diagnosed with Chronic Lung Disease, he was hooked up to a ventilator helping him to breathe. He was followed closely by CHOC’s extraordinary doctors and nurses, which allowed him to grow and get stronger.
 

He is now an active, healthy 9 year-old who loves school and playing sports alongside his big brother. Our family is so very grateful to Ryan’s medical team and to CHOC who give children like Ryan a fighting chance every day.
