I donated blood(specifically platelets) yesterday at the San Diego Blood Bank and was reminded of how important this fundraiser is, how important this work is, and how much it means to those families that have to deal with the unbearable heartache and pain of a child fighting cancer.
I haven't been as consistent in my blood donations as I'd like, only having given twice this year so far. But I've donated over 5 gallons in my life, and heard of a man who has donated over 200 gallons in his time at San Diego Blood Bank.
Long way for me to go to catch up.

Welcome to my CHOC Walk Fundraising Page!

I'm very honored that our friends Greg and Jennie have asked us to join their team, Team Theo for the 2nd year. While not the first people in my life who have faced cancer (and survived), certainly the first child who's faced it. I'm super happy and thankful that Theo is in remission, and that this is a celebratory walk and not the other kind.
I have, for years, been donating blood when I am able to do so. Years ago, San Diego Blood Bank asked me to switch to platelet donations. I agreed, because it was what they needed more of from my blood type. It wasn't until much later that I learned that platelets are absolutely essential in cancer treatment and recovery.
This is a long winded way to say, I've been trying to support these causes for years, and am happy/sad to have a more personal reason to do so, specifically with Rady Children's. I don't really know how to end these messages, so I'm just going to ask that you donate what you are willing to donate to this cause.
Below this personal message is the default message from CHOC:
I'm so excited to be participating in the 2026 CHOC Walk in the Park presented by Disneyland® Resort on Sunday, August 2, to raise funds for Rady Children’s Health, formerly CHOC!
I can't wait to reunite with our Walk community for an early morning stroll through Disneyland® park and Disney California Adventure® park. You won't want to miss this one-of-a-kind experience filled with special entertainment and surprises before the parks open to the public.
Every dollar raised from this magical event will support health care programs, education, and research at Rady Children’s Health, formerly CHOC. More than two million children a year depend on Rady's. And our community's generosity is what provides access to the best possible care and services.
You can help me exceed my fundraising goal for the benefit of the children's health and well-being by:
-Donating now by clicking the "Donate" button above or
-Joining me at this year's event at the Disneyland® Resort by registering here
Many thanks in advance for helping us write a new future for so many children and their families.
Regards,
Galen
