I'm so excited to be participating in the 2026 CHOC Walk in the Park presented by Disneyland® Resort on Sunday, August 2, to raise funds for Rady Children’s Health, formerly CHOC!
As many of you know, Aiden, my grandson has severe allergies. His main allergies are to Peanuts/Tree Nuts, Gluten, Eggs, Dairy. This started before he even turned one year old. Although this makes navigating life more difficult, he has adjusted pretty well.
For most of us, we don't think twice before we go out to eat. For Aiden, we have to think the menu through. We need to talk with the wait staff and even the chef in the kitchen before we even think about what we can order for Aiden. Many times we bring his own food for him to eat, because we know it's safe for him to eat.
Even going to Pre School is challenging. Last year Aiden had a anaphylaxis reaction to something he ate. By the time his Dad got there, his body was already shutting down. He was transported to CHOC Hospital and admitted. A team of doctors, nurses and other staff members were waiting and ready for Aiden. They treated him quickly getting his vitals back where they needed to be. While Aiden was being treated, other doctors and staff were helping his Mom and Dad understand what was happening and what the doctors were doing for Aiden.
As Aiden's Nani (grandma), I am forever grateful to CHOC Hospital, doctors, nurses and staff that work there. I have found that they go above and beyond in treating your child. The Staff does everything they can to make a terrible situation tolerable. And with that, you know my why.....why I am doing this walk and raising money for this Hospital. Please help me support CHOC Hospital anything you can give will be appreciated. And I pray, you never find yourself in a situation that you will need to visit CHOC Hospital. But if you do, know you will be well taken care of!
Every dollar raised from this magical event will support health care programs, education, and research at Rady Children’s Health, formerly CHOC. More than two million children a year depend on Rady's. And our community's generosity is what provides access to the best possible care and services.
