On November 10, 1997, I was blessed with my first nephew, Anthony (Tony) Fragoso. Within 24 hours of being born, he was transported to Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) because he was having trouble breathing. We learned that he was born with several heart defects. He was rushed into surgery and thanks to the doctors and nurses at CHOC, his surgery and recovery were a success. At eight months old, Tony returned to CHOC for a second surgery. CHOC took such great care of him throughout his stays and I am forever grateful. His third surgery was at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, where he unfortunately passed away two weeks later. Tony was only four years old when he left us.
