Grayson Landgraf

Hi!

I'm Grayson Landgraf and I'm a TWIN!

When in our mommy's tummy, we had what is called TTTS (Twin To Twin Transfusion Syndrome). Essentially, our placentas fused together, giving me more blood supply than my brother. Our mommy had laser ablation surgery at 18 weeks, where they laparoscopically sealed the connections that were being shared.  My twin brother and I were born at 29 weeks and immediately placed into the NICU. I spent 51 days in the NICU, coming home just before my brother who stayed for 53 days.

One of the side effects of the laser ablation surgery, which was unknown to us at the time is ABS (Amniotic Band Syndrome). ABS is when very fine strands from the amniotic sac can detach and wrap around limbs. In my case, fine strands wrapped around my upper left bicep and partially on my left thigh, causing a major restriction of blood flow to my arm.  Immediately after being born I had surgery to remove the band. Because of the swift actions and knowledge of the surgeons and doctors, they were able to save my arm with no long term effects.

Also due to TTTS and being a preemie, months later I had a lobectomy removing the lower portion of my left lung due to there being fluid. I am blessed to say my brother and I are now healthy, 4 year old boys!

Each year we participate in the annual CHOC Walk to help raise money for future research and the best possible care and services for current and future patients, just as we were grateful to receive.

Please help our team, TWINFINITY AND BEYOND, exceed our fundraising goal by donating to CHOC Hospital.

Donate now by clicking the "Donate" button above.

Many thanks in advance for helping us write a new future for so many children and their families.

With love and gratitude,

Grayson Landgraf
