I'm so excited to be participating in the 2026 CHOC Walk in the Park presented by Disneyland® Resort on Sunday, August 2, to raise funds for Rady Children’s Health, formerly CHOC!
This hospital and event means so much to me because of Carter Ankeny and his family! I met them at a concert held on the Tomorrowland stage in Disneyland one fall evening. It happened to also be Carter's birthday. He handed me a birthday goodie bag with Gummy Bears and other treats, and later in the evening climbed into my lap (as well as my heart) to enjoy them with me! Since those days at TLT stage, we've become a "Ska Family" and our bonds have only grown deeper.
When Carter was diagnosed with leukemia in October of 2015, his family's world was forever changed in an instant. The team at this care center was there to support them through learning their "new normal" step by step. Not only do they provide support & education to families as they face the unthinkable. But they do so with magic, love & smiles. Cater had a childhood illness, but they made sure he still had an incredible childhood!
When we lost Carter in October of 2017, the world seemed to have lost a bit of its color. Once again, the care team provided incredible support & services to the Ankeny family to help them through the unthinkable grief. It's one of the biggest reasons I work to continue supporting this organization in their mission!
Please consider donating whatever you can to my campaign to support families. Making sure children aren't just living with childhood illness, but also having a childhood!
Every dollar raised from this magical event will support health care programs, education, and research at Rady Children’s Health, formerly CHOC. More than two million children a year depend on Rady's. And our community's generosity is what provides access to the best possible care and services.
