Super Kara & Friends

We are so excited to be participating in CHOC Walk's 30th anniversary event - CHOC Adventure in the Park presented by the Disneyland® Resort to raise funds for CHOC!
This year, we walk for NOAH VASQUEZ, our newest and youngest team member. Noah's family had been participating in the CHOC Walk even before Haisley, his sister was born.
Little did they know their own family would be touched by the wonderful and amazing doctors and staff at CHOC when Haisley had a benign tumor in her skull. They were truly amazed by the doctors and staff at CHOC and how they made them feel at ease when Haisley had to get it surgically removed especially during a pandemic!
Not many know that little Noah is diagnosed with 22q11.2 deletion syndrome also known as DiGeorge Syndrome. It is a disorder caused when a small part of chromosome 22 is missing. This deletion results in the poor development of several body systems.
Medical problems commonly associated with 22q11.2 deletion syndrome include heart defects, poor immune system function, a cleft palate, complications related to low levels of calcium in the blood, and delayed development with behavioral and emotional problems.
The number and severity of symptoms associated with 22q11.2 deletion syndrome vary. However, almost everyone with this syndrome needs treatment from specialists in a variety of fields.
The Vasquez Family have been quite fortunate that they have not seen the typical clinical symptoms of DiGeorge Syndrome with Noah and he has so far been developing and meeting his milestones, but they have been seeing many specialists through CHOC as a preventative measure. They could not be more grateful to all the doctors and staff at CHOC that have helped us navigate and guide us through all this as we continue to learn about DiGeorge Syndrome and what we could potentially see in Noah as he continues to grow.
Because of Noah, we walk for him this year. Please help us exceed our fundraising goal for the benefit of the children and families of Southern California by:

  • One of our newest team members became cancer free after battling a brain tumor for 8 years and we couldn't be happier!
  • Kara recorded a voice over for a CHOCO Bear MRI module for CHOC Children's in Orange and also another voice over for a post-surgery recovery module for CHOC Children's at Mission Hospital: Choco's Sea Adventure.
  • As you peruse the registration and fundraising information on this website, you may see some familiar faces. Our team was invited to take promotional pictures at Disney's California Adventure to use for this year's CHOC Adventure in the Park.
  • Kara has made over 120 Kara Care Cards to raise funds for CHOC
Every dollar counts for kids!
