Hello Friends and Family!!!

I am fundraising for this Year's CHOC Walk and I wanted to share a little about my story.

My name is Amelia and when I was in my mommy's tummy the doctors saw that my intestines were different than other babies my size.  My Mommy and Daddy hoped for the best and the doctors watched me closely.

I came 5 weeks early.  The home that kept me warm and cozy POPPED!! There was so much water in my cozy house that my mommy's body thought I was ready to come.  My Tia (aunt) said when I was born there was a big slash!!!

My mommy and daddy held me for 15min before I was rushed to CHOC. I took a drive to my new house with my Daddy to the CHOC NICU but my mommy had to stay behind and recover. My mom is so tough she came to see me the very next day!

At one day old I had my 1st surgery. When the doctors told my Mom and Dad that I was only born with 20cm of small intestine, have my entire large intestine and would need IV Nutrition for a really long time, they were sad and cried. The only thing making them smile was the thought of not having me at all.

I was diagnosed with Short Bowel Syndrome. A condition were I don't have enough intestine to absorb enough nutrition to keep me big and strong. The doctors explained I would have a tough journey ahead and that I would need a Gtube and Central line called a Broviac.

Having a Broviac casues a few risks. I could get infections in my blood, my liver could get angry, my veins tired and I can get really sick. Having Short Gut causes tummy issues too. Some days food looks so yummy I take small nibbles of my favorite foods like chicken! Some days food makes me nauseous, sometimes I need lots of water because I feel so tursty but then my tummy doesn't want all that water and my belly get so so big like a balloon and I throw up a lot. Then, I have to visit CHOC because I get a yucky bacteria that makes me sick and I get a fever.

When I get to CHOC I get a few necessary ouchies. They put big machines over my little body and take lots of pictures.  Now that I'm older I go to CHOC so much, I stay for 2 days or sometimes a week but when I was a baby I stayed there for months!!!

At  CHOC I have lots of friends that come to visit me! They are my favorite people at CHOC and help make my hospital stays a lot better.

My Parents and family say I'm so strong and brave! But sometimes I'm scared and cry but my family and friends are always by my side.

Today I am 3 years old!!!
And am just like any other toddler around. I love School, bubbles, the park, my brother and sister, I have favorite movies and shows and I even sleep in a big girl bed. I do my very best to live a happy and fun life any time I can! They also call me A BOSS BABY! I know what I want and have big expectations! Most of the time I am super sweet and so smart! I like to be silly and make people laugh.
I'm GREAT!!! I'M AMELIA THE GREAT!

We love CHOC and want to help raise funds so they can keep making me and other kids feel better!
