Our family is so excited to be participating in the 2023 CHOC Walk in the Park presented by Disneyland® Resort on Sunday, August 20th, to raise funds for CHOC!
My twin grandsons, Grayson and Jackson, were born at 29 weeks and 6 days, leaving them in the NICU for 51 and 53 days. Having first dealt with TTTS (Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome) and in utero laser ablation surgery to start their journey, it wasn't discovered until birth that Grayson had Amniotic Band Syndrome (ABS) affecting his upper left arm and partially on his thigh. ABS is when small fibers from the sac break off and wrap around fetal extremities, which cause loss of blood flow to that limb. Within an hour of his birth, Grayson underwent surgery to repair the arm. A few months later, due to a congenital lung malformation, he also underwent surgery to remove the lower left lobe of his lung.
Grayson's arm and muscle movement were saved. Both Grayson and Jackson are happy, healthy boys turning two in a few months!! We couldn't be more grateful and blessed for the amazing CHOC surgeons, doctors, and nurses that became like family to Briana, Chris, Grayson and Jackson. There are not enough "thank yous" for the heroes who helped save the boys lives.
Proceeds from this event will support health care programs, education, and research at CHOC and CHOC at Mission Hospitals. Please help us exceed our fundraising goal for the benefit of the children and families of Southern California by:
