I'm so excited to be participating in the 2023 CHOC Walk in the Park presented by _Disneyland_® Resort on Sunday, August 20, to raise funds for CHOC. When I was young I had 2 isolated seizures. Very kind healthcare workers took care of me, but couldn't figure out why the seizure's happened. Thankfully they didn't happen again. Fast forward a couple of years where my nephew, who was born with a rare skeletal disorder, had to have neck surgery at a children's hospital. They took such great care of my nephew, the surgery was successful, and my nephew made a full recovery! At that time I decided to do my Eagle Scout project for that hospital. I received many donations from local stores and people to help with that project. Fast forward several more years and I'm here in Southern California where another one of my nephews had been diagnosed with epilepsy. He was able to go to CHOC and they were able to give him excellent care to get his seizures managed. I love children (I'm a pediatric speech pathologist), and I love what children's hospitals do for children. Proceeds from this magical event will support health care programs, education, and research at CHOC and CHOC at Mission Hospitals.
