Please join us in our efforts to raise needed funds to support the care, services, education and research that CHOC Children's provides children in our community.
The SMCHS "Eagles for CHOC Club" is the largest and oldest health-related humanitarian club at SM, dedicated to helping the pediatric patients at CHOC. We support the teenage patients at Mission Viejo CHOC with Christmas socks, donations and hand-knotted blankets throughout the year.
This year will mark our SMCHS EFC Club’s 19th year of participation in this event and we would love to include our Eagle Parents, friends and families to join us!
We will walk (rain or shine) through Disneyland and California Adventure. Disney characters will cheer us on as we stroll through the park! The walk ends at Downtown Disney with vendors, give-aways and picture opportunities!
All walkers must donate or raise a minimum of $85.00 to participate in the CHOC Walk. All donations are tax deductible and an employee matching gift program is available.
Last year we were more than 40 walkers strong and raised over $4,000.
Invite your friends and families to sponsor an Eagles for CHOC Walker or join us for the walk!

I want to walk with the EFC Team but I don't have $85....what now?
Just ask you family and friends to make a donation of any amount to sponsor you. Register as a walker for the EFC team and you will be given a personal CHOC Walk web page that you can personalize and email to family & friends, requesting donations to support your walk. You can also download the CHOC Walk FUNdraiser for iOS and Android now. See the CHOC Walk website for more info on the app.
My family/friends would like to make a donation...how can they do this?
Great! If you receive $450 in donations, you will receive (2) 1-day, 1- Park Ticket. After you register for the
CHOC Walk, email your personal CHOC Walk web page to family & friends and they can donate to you directly.
Do I have to walk with the SMCHS Eagles for CHOC team?
No, you can walk on your own (but it's really fun to walk as a team). Our EFC Team would still love to have your financial support to meet our $3,000 goal, so please register for our team. SMCHS and Club Advisors are not responsible for students who chose to walk on their own.
I don't really want to walk but I would love to support the EFC team.....
Can't make it on Walk Day? No problem! Register as a Sleeping Bear - $85.00 Sleeping Bears are CHOC Walkers who can't make it on Walk day but would still like to support CHOC Children's through the CHOC Walk. Sleeping Bears will receive a CHOC Walk t-shirt and will still be eligible to earn prizes from their fundraising efforts. So sleep in on Walk day and still have fun fundraising and helping the children.
I don't have a credit card for registration, can I pay by check?
Paying by credit card is preferred but you can pay by check by submitting it to the SMCHS c/o Nurse Office 22062 Antonio Parkway, Rancho Santa Margarita, CA 92688. Pay to the order of: CHOC CHILDREN'S FOUNDATION (not SMCHS). Please write the name of the walker in the note section of the check.
What time do I have to be there?
You must check in with our Eagles for CHOC team at Disneyland to pick up your wristband that will allow you into the park for the CHOC Walk. We strongly recommend leaving the Rancho area early (5:15ish ) and arriving early (no later than 6:00). The northbound traffic will be very heavy so carpooling is encouraged. Our team will start heading into the park at 6:15 – 6:30am. We can't wait for latecomers. Arrive before 7:30am to be able to walk both parks. If you arrive after 8:00 am they will not allow you to walk. The Mickey and Friends parking structure and Pumba parking lot are open at 4:00am and available free of charge. There are a lot of employees to direct you in parking. If you are being dropped off, you will be directed in where to do this. Check the CHOC Walk website for maps to Disneyland. No tram will be running so you will be walking from the parking lot to the park.
What time is it over?
10:30 am or a little earlier, depending on the crowds. The walk ends at Downtown Disney. You can hang out there after the walk where there are a lot of vendors with give-aways. If you are being picked up after the walk, please designate a meeting place with your driver. The Club Advisors will be leaving Disneyland when the walk ends so there will be no adult supervision.
Who is participating in the CHOC Walk?
School Nurse's Rebecca Wood and Lisa Volpo are the Eagles for CHOC Club Advisors. We will both be participating in the walk with our EFC Board Members, club members and families and friends. Our team is typically 40+ members strong!
When will I get my wristband and official CHOC Walk T-shirt?
All participants will receive a wristband, free CHOC Walk T-shirt and various coupons at the Walk. All SMCHS students participating in the CHOC Walk need to have a field trip permission slip signed by a parent. Please return the signed form to the SMCHS Nurse’s Office when you pick up your wristband.
What do I wear?
Anything with our SM logo or SM blue or gold is fine. This is a 3 mile walk so please wear comfortable walking shoes. Each walker will receive a free Disney CHOC Walk T-shirt, but we will not wear them for the Walk. It can be chilly when we begin so bring a sweatshirt. If you haven't yet purchased an Eagles for CHOC cinch bag, we will offer all Walkers a discounted price of $9.00 (regularly $15.00). It's perfect for carrying a water bottle, wallet, sweatshirt, etc. while you are on the Walk!
What do I bring?
Our club will provide donuts and juice before the Walk starts. There are also coffee shops open along Downtown Disney. There are very limited food/drink offerings inside the Park. Free bottled water is offered to Walkers at the half-way point. At the end of the Walk most all Downtown Disney restaurants and snack places will be open.
*Remember to bring money if you are going to purchase your specially priced Disneyland Ticket after the Walk. (more info below)
Where do we meet?
The Eagles for CHOC team will be gathered at the front entrance of Disneyland. Look for balloons, signs and SM blue & gold. Early arrivals get their choice of donuts! We will all walk into the park together and try to stay together for the whole walk. Parents, we take attendance before entering the Park, and encourage our group to stay together but can't guarantee it due to the crowds.
How do I buy a discounted Park ticket after the Walk?
After the walk, (on Sunday only), Disneyland will offer Walkers with wristbands the opportunity to purchase a specially-priced Disneyland Resort 1-day, 1-park Ticket OR 1-day Park Hopper Ticket to return to the Disneyland and/or CA Adventure park (once prices are posted this info will be updated) You may also use your tickets that day, but we wouldn’t recommend it. Walkers may purchase up to five (5) of these specially-priced tickets total on the day of the Walk only. Visit a ticket booth located in the CHOC Walk Festival Area in the Downtown Disney® District at the end of the walk for further details. Terms and conditions on the tickets shall apply. Any damaged, lost or stolen tickets will not be replaced. An inability to use any tickets will result in forfeiture of such tickets. Subject to change without notice.
What is CHOC's Tax ID number?
Your donation is tax deductible. The Federal Tax ID for the CHOC Foundation is 95-6097416.
