On August 11, my family & I will be participating in a very special 5k in honor of a very special boy, Jordan (Jojo) Kalua Cline. Jordan passed away at the very young age of 7 in February 2018. He was loved by our family and by all who knew him. Jordan battled a very rare disease, Mitochondrial Deletion Syndrome, which left his body constantly fighting to function. However, you would never know how severe his condition was when you met him, as he was always full of life and love. He loved to play with his brothers, ride horses and ski in Mammoth! While at home you would find him in a nerf gun or Star Wars battle or jumping on the trampoline. No matter how Jojo was feeling he always found the energy for his family and friends. The fundraising efforts of the CHOC Walk make an immediate impact on families going through the most challenging time in their lives. Children's Hospital of Orange County provides the highest level of care not only to patients, but to the siblings, parents, and extended family that make up their support team. I cannot think of a better place to raise money for in Jordan's honor, than for the hospital that helped him live those 7 amazing years.
