About the Event
Over its 30-year history, the CHOC Walk in the Park has raised more than $38.5 million for CHOC and CHOC at Mission Hospital. These funds support programs and services for the hospital’s greatest needs—from mental health services to child life activities and more. Because of the restrictions set in place by the pandemic, we could not bring certain experiences to CHOC—such as the Minnie Walk event that brought the CHOC Walk straight to hospital patients. So, we sought out to find new, safe ways to support our patients and families.
Last year, we launched a brand-new event called “Deck the Halls” in an effort to spread cheer to those in the hospital during the holidays. With the support of our community and corporate partners, we hope to, once again, deck the halls of CHOC this holiday season! This initiative will transform the hospital atmosphere throughout the month of December by decorating floors and lobbies, distributing cheer totes to patients and hosting special festivities. A virtual celebration will be broadcasted from CHOC’s in-house Seacrest Studios on December 10, 2021—providing activities like a gingerbread house building, story time with Santa, Christmas bingo and more, directly to patients who aren’t able to leave their rooms.
But we can’t do this alone—we rely on the support of our community to help spread joy and lift spirits this holiday season. We hope you will join us this year in delivering holiday magic to our patients, families, and CHOC providers and associates.
Here are three ways you can get involved in this year’s event:
- Donate toward cheer totes and festivities that will help bring our Deck the Halls event to life. Your donations will go towards items like toys, crafts and activities that will be included in holiday cheer totes that will be passed out to patients and families throughout the month of December.
- Sponsor decorations for CHOC's floors, units and lobbies to add extra merriment into the hospital halls for those that need it most. Underwriting opportunities include decorating each floor with different holiday themes, lighting up the CHOC “Bridge to Hope,” funding a balloon arch garland and more.
- Fundraise to help us create magical moments during our virtual celebration by creating a fundraising page to share with your community. Create your own “Holiday Fundraising Team” to increase your outreach and donations by getting your friends and family involved.
The “Deck the Halls” campaign is now live for all CHOC Supporters to donate and fundraise for this holiday season. No one should have to be in a hospital during the holidays, but with your help we can add some cheer and light back into this time for those in need of healing and hope.
