Welcome to my CHOC Walk Personal Page!

Meredith Starkenburg

Hello and welcome to my CHOC walk page!

I walk for my big brother, Duncan. In June 2019, Duncan was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. He spent a week at CHOC, then at home with the first 3 months with intense doses of dexamethasone, and the next 5 months on chemotherapy through a port in his chest. Finally, he entered maintenance, which will last for the next two years. I am so incredibly proud of his strength and perseverance. Though I often find him an annoying nuisance, he's my best friend and he is my hero. I love him so much and cannot express how proud I am of him. Today, Duncan is sixteen and a sophomore in high school who loves engineering, science, annoying me relentlessly, and playing video games.

This is my second year walking in the CHOC Walk. Last year, with the help of my teammates, Team EvilDunk raised almost $20,000 for CHOC hospital and walked in Disneyland Park with 70 team members. Wow. Just, wow. It was a magical morning that I will never forget. The amount of love and support we received was unreal. I still can't believe it.

This year, I am participating in CHOC's first-ever Virtual Walk in the Park leading Team Evildunk in early 2021 to raise funds for CHOC Children's Hospital!

Although COVID-19 has changed life as we know it, one thing remains the same: children are still counting on CHOC and supporters like us to help them get better. As a non-profit organization, CHOC relies on community generosity to provide leading-edge care for infants, children, and adolescents close to home. Your donation can provide vital resources to patients and families as they face today’s crisis.

Please help me exceed my fundraising goal by:
